Hello out there.  Hope you've all had a very happy and restful Christmas and looking forward to what the New Year brings.

The shop is closed now until January 5th.

Having  the carpets spruced and doing the stock check whilst closed so I may well be in the shop if you're passing.

What an old softy am I.  Just before the close I went to Shrewsbury for some new colours in the Stylecraft Super Chunky range. I also took delivery of the New Robin Super Chunky. NICE!!!! LUCKY CUSTOMERS. XX

I am still knitting furiously hoping to make in roads into the jumper I promised my darling hubby David.  Back done, Front nearly there just sleeves and collar then stitching up.

I got all my orders completed, even though two peeps didn't bother to pick them up,  oh well.

More orders already in for ASAP.

The Lancs fleece chunky jacket was posted off to London, but I haven't heard anything as to how it looks. Shame that.
 I didn't have too many itches whilst knitting it. It knitted up a dream, wish I could wear it myself.

hello out there,

Its November already.
7 months the shop has been open and I'm still smiling.  Tired, a lot of hard work has gone in to keeping shop stocked and still I've gaps on the shelves. The Lancashire fleece is selling well,  I can let you know how it knits soon as I have an order for a childs jacket in chunky. Looking forward to it in one way but not in another,  I have a real sensitivity to pure wool.  So I may be full of red spots by the time its done.
The workshops are proving popular.  We have four coming up this week.  Felt birds this Thursday Material Birds on Friday.  Knitted birds on saturday and wire birds on Tuesday.  Still a couple of spaces on each.
This months card club on the 20th will be making 3 fab winter scenes which can easily be used for special Christmas cards and a three D surprise!! Cant wait.  I joined in the last one and it was excellent.
Samples are in the shop for TAGS BAGS AND BOXES workshop.  A contents list of the goodie bag you take home is also available so you can the value for your money.


The Craftettes are holding a Christmas Fair at the RMI Club on  Chorley New Road Horwich from11am til 5pm.  Great Christmas gift ideas, including chocolates, handmade cards, ceramics.

Peter Pan prints.   A lovely shade called mini tartan. Desperate to knit that up just  see what pattern it produces.

Sylecraft Super Chunky for all your Cowls.  Lovely and snuggly.  With 25% pure wool.

My two Girlies have learned to cast on, knit, cast off, increase and decrease.  They have made a fabulous string of bunting for Stanley's birthday and their friends were so impressed that one commission bunting for their little girls birthdays.   Saturdays class is how to purl.  Their homework will be to make a pair of simple hand warmers.  No thumbs yet.

The improvers have moved on to knitting in the round on short circular needles.  They have made hats incorporating cables.  The ladies are doing well.

Coming soon a complete three week course of crochet called "Sensational Squares".
£56.00 includes three 2&1/2 hour sessions materials, handouts and refreshments. We intend to run two groups of 7.The first group in the week Wednesday morning 10.30 till 1.00pm. followed by a Saturday group of 7 from 10.30 till 1.pm. The small informal groups make sure that everyone has personal attention from the tutor when needed. Again, please contact me if you are interested.

they will include, Knitted, felt and material Birds to use as tree or garland decorations. and Jane is practising her needle felting skills

Hopefully the Christams stacker special workshop from Liz will also have a birdie theme.

I will keep you informed as to how these are progressing in the next couple of days.

Well what a day at the Middlebrook.
It started off very slow and quiet, but took off after the rains stopped.
I had a few visitors who took leaflets, booked the last place on workshop, bought wool and needles and Carols Felt, Button and Bead jewellery she was making to promote her workshop.  She has to book another one now because of the interest.
Back tomorrow, just been having a fab peppermint foot soak after being on my feet all day.

Invited to the Mayoress of Horwich Charity event in September.  Watch this space for details.

Had confirmation of baby event on saturday 20th september at St Elizabeths church Horwich 10am til 2pm.

More new stuff

Fabulous Lancashire Natural Wool now available in double knitting, aran and a delicous Chunky. Thank you Jane for dropping off new stock and examples of knitted garments, they are much admired and handled. 
I have just had an order delivered of 1200 grms of chunky for a lovely lady. I will photograph it and put in next blog for you all to see.
This is a double loop scarf knitted in Sorbet Opium, the second loop is knitted with the new Cosmos complimentry yarn

Well Hello everyone.
Phew its been scorching. good job its cool in the back of the Shop.
The last workshops by Susan Sydall and Rosie Rimmer proved a huge success and they have now booked more.
Rosie has booked a collage called Bird on Board on Friday 15th Aug 1 - 4pm £15.00. 2 places left
Her follow on Rag Rug workshop using the hook is now fully booked it only went up on the wall last monday and was booked by thursday morning. SORRY
Susan is doing another Machine Sticth on paper workshop for those who were not lucky enought to book the first one.  That will be on saturday September 6th at 10.30 - 1.30pm agian £15.00.
Carol Leighton is holding a FELT, BUTTON AND BEAD  JEWELLERY workshop on friday 29th Aug. 1 -4pm only two places left. examples of jewellery are in the shop. Again £15.00 to include materials.
Last nights knitting class was such a laugh. honestly if you could see us slurping tea munching ginger biscuit bars and trying to knit.
At least they went a way with some cabling done.  Eileen was chuffed to bits with her Moss stitch Headband (well at least 4 inches).
No Monday evening classes now till September.
Fine Yarns will have a presence at the Middle in Horwich this saturday and sunday at the food Festival.  The tables will in the Mall in between the two Next stores.

Hello everyone.
I have just returned from a fab holiday in Zante.
To say sorry for being closed for two weeks I have reduced all 100 grm balls of acrylic baby yarn  to £1.99 for two weeks.
Jane  brought round a supply of the Lancashire Fleece in DK, Aran and Chunky and Kate sent me two skeins of the new grey/brown shade of chunky. All £8.00 for 100 grms.

The lastest Yarn From Fine Yarns

Rosie has confirmed a Collage workshop for Friday 18th July from 1pm til 4pm. All materials provided. Using magazines and oil pastels she hopes that you will finish a small work of art to mount and frame. She also uses the same technique in card maikg and embellisments for hand made paper bags.

A very Arty Lady call Susan Syddall is looking to book three workshops. Her art involves working with sewing machines.  She sews over photos. tears, paints, stiches some more. Honestly there are so good and shes so inspiring.  For anyone who says they cant draw this may just be the workshop for them.

Next Sunday is horwich Carnival and Race day aswell as Fathers Day.  The shop will be open fron 9.30 til 4.00 hoping to catch some road race trade.  Hope its not " road rage".

I will be looking at an evening knitting class for mixed abilities as there are more people who want to refine or expand their knowledge as they already Knit. So from June 23rd  the evening class will be the third Monday of the month leaving me with a free Wednesday Yeh!!!!! The class will start at 6pm and end approx. 8.30pm.  The cost will be £15.00 with materials or £10.00 if you bring your own

I have contacted Kate regards knitting patterns for her Lancashire Natural fleeces as i love the Morecambe Gansey she knitted and also the hooded jacket Jane knitted for Yarndale last year.

I made this seascape cosy for a lovely guy i know who saw the cosies in Sarah Janes. Its decorated with shells, coral and a fish.

These are a selection of cake cosies. chocolate fudge, bakewell and my fave lemon meringue. Both the cake and the cosy.

 I have had a delivery from King Cole today of some new colours in their OPIUM range, including Peacock, Purple, Stone and Sorbet.
I must get round to knitting some of the new Patterns I ordered to accompany the Yarn.
Having Knitted the Posh short sleeved Jacket and putting it on show I no longer have the only one!!!!!  I dont know what will happen when I put the shrug out Im just fininshing.

I think I must be in a blue mood.
The short sleeved jacket is knitted in King Cole Opium in Wedgewood blue and is shown accessorised with Jeans 'n Tshirt necklace made with agate and jade.For my size it takes three 100 grm balls of Opium. I had quite a bit left over because I stitched it with sewing thread rather than the yarn.
The three blues yarns are "Baby with a Twist" "Opium" and "Big Value chunky", all King Cole andl are now available in the shop.
I will be knitting a lovely baby boys jacket with the Baby Twist, to show off the effect and adding blue train buttons.
I was going to a blog about a forthcoming Rag Rugging workshop at the shop, but it was fully booked in less than 12 hours.I am hoping another will be booked very soon.
